4 taken to hospital after hornet swarm near Singapore market
What's new: The nest on a tree by Redhill Lane was removed the same day and the footpath has reopened.
Four people were taken to Singapore General Hospital after a hornet attack near Redhill Market on July 10, authorities and local reports said. The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was called to Redhill Lane at about 1:30 p.m. Tanjong Pagar Town Council said the hornets came from a nest in a tree along a footpath between Block 78 Redhill Lane and a Shell petrol station. Witnesses told Shin Min Daily News that an elderly woman suffered multiple stings and was found with swollen, bleeding ears, while another elderly man fell as he tried to get away. The town council cordoned off the area, sent in a pest-control contractor and later removed the nest.
