4 Malaysians arrested after abusing 3 Indonesian maids in Johor
KJRI Johor Bahru has taken two victims to a shelter; another in Kuala Lumpur will be brought to Johor Bahru to testify.
Police in Johor Bahru arrested four Malaysians suspected of abusing three Indonesian domestic workers in Johor after footage of the beatings went viral on social media. The suspected perpetrators are two women and two men, and they remain under questioning by local authorities. KJRI Johor Bahru said the three victims, identified by their initials YY, SH and YA, are receiving protection and legal assistance. YY and SH have been taken to the KJRI Johor Bahru temporary shelter, while YA, who is in Kuala Lumpur, will be brought to Johor Bahru to give a statement. Police said one of the incidents of violence occurred in July 2025, while ANTARA reported the victims were also beaten again in late 2025 through January 2026. Their passports are still being held by the employer.
