34.1 hectares of forest and land fires in 5 Aceh Barat districts extinguished

All forest and land fires that swept through five districts in Aceh Barat over the past two weeks have been extinguished. The Aceh Barat BPBD recorded a total burned area of 34.1 hectares. The largest fire was in Bubon district, with 15 hectares in Berawang village and 10 hectares in Kuta Padang Layung village. In Samatiga, flames burned 4 hectares in Cot Seumeureung village. Fires also broke out in Johan Pahlawan, Meureubo and Arongan Lambalek. Acting head of BPBD Aceh Barat Teuku Ronal said operations were focused intensively in Bubon and Samatiga because their impact was the greatest. Although the fires are 100 percent extinguished, BPBD warned that the risk of forest and land fires remains during dry weather and shifting winds, and asked residents not to clear land by burning.
