30-year-old driver dies in pre-dawn CTE crash; 3 hurt

What's new: A road worker was among those hospitalized after the 4:45 a.m. crash, which also snarled traffic across four lanes.

A 30-year-old man died early Monday after a crash involving a car and a lorry on the Central Expressway toward the Seletar Expressway in Singapore, police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force said. The car driver was pronounced dead at the scene after authorities were alerted at about 4:45 a.m. Three others were taken conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital: a 37-year-old lorry driver, his 38-year-old passenger and a 24-year-old worker who had been carrying out nearby road works. Images from the scene showed a heavily damaged black car, debris across several lanes and skid marks near the divider. The Land Transport Authority warned motorists to avoid lanes one to four after Merchant Road as congestion built up. Police are investigating.
