3 students burned in Lombok Tengah case, 1 dies

KPAI says two survivors still face treatment costs, while police have not yet named any suspect.

The burning of three students at an Islamic boarding school in Batukliang, Lombok Tengah, West Nusa Tenggara, is still under way with no suspect named. The incident, allegedly carried out by a senior student at Pondok Pesantren Rosyidatushaulatiyyah Al Ibrahimy, killed one victim, while the other two suffered severe burns that left them permanently disabled. Lombok Tengah Police have questioned 17 witnesses, including victims, parents, students, boarding school administrators and officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and are waiting only for a criminal law expert opinion from Universitas Mataram before holding a case review. KPAI urged the legal process to be sped up under the Child Protection Law and the Juvenile Criminal Justice System. KPAI also asked the Health Office and BPJS Kesehatan to waive medical costs for the two victims.
