3,550 joint personnel clean 11 river sites in Jabodetabek
The coordinated push at Kali Angke and BKB in West Jakarta aims to cut trash, sediment buildup, and flood risk.
A total of 3,550 joint personnel from Kodam Jaya, Polda Metro Jaya, the DKI Jakarta provincial government, and residents held a cleanup drive at rivers in 11 locations across Jabodetabek on Saturday, August 15. The simultaneous action focused on Kali Angke in Kalijodo, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, and Kali Banjir Kanal Barat in Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta. The work included removing trash and sediment, planting trees, and providing aid to residents to mark the approach of the 81st anniversary of RI. At BKB in West Jakarta, about 360 personnel joined the effort by walking along the river and using excavators to remove deposits. The West Jakarta government said cleaning riverbanks is important to maintain water flow, reduce the risk of ponding and floods, and encourage residents not to throw trash into rivers.
