24-year-old rescued after lorry flips and hits lamppost in Woodlands

A 24-year-old man was taken to hospital after a lorry flipped onto its side and struck a lamppost in Woodlands on Sunday morning, trapping him in the front passenger seat. Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force were alerted to the crash at the junction of Woodlands Avenue 6 and Woodlands Avenue 1 at about 8.50 a.m. Police believe the lorry skidded at the junction. Firefighters and Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team specialists used hydraulic equipment to free the passenger, while an emergency medical team from Woodlands Hospital provided support at the scene. He was taken conscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. Another person was treated for minor injuries but declined hospital transport. The 30-year-old driver is helping with police investigations.
