2026 tax target leaves Rp750.1 trillion to collect in Q4
Economists said the September revenue jump may not be fully real, with about 39 percent of net gains driven by lower refunds.
The 2026 tax revenue target is still seen as achievable, but the government must collect Rp750.1 trillion in the fourth quarter, or about Rp250 trillion a month. INDEF economist M Rizal Taufikurahman warned that efforts to meet the target should not pressure businesses, especially as corporate profits and consumption remain under strain. As of 30 September 2026, tax revenue stood at Rp1,607.6 trillion, or 68.2 percent of the 2026 state budget target of Rp2,357.7 trillion. Rizal said the 24.1 percent growth in September should be read carefully because part of it was driven by lower refunds; by his calculation, about 39 percent of the additional net revenue came from that factor. CITA analyst Fajry Akbar also said DJP had done its maximum, but noted this year's target is very high and requires an extra Rp440 trillion compared with 2025.
