2 Indian nationals caught bringing 10.1 kg marijuana from Thailand to Bali
Police are probing whether the marijuana, worth up to Rp3.3 billion, was meant for distribution in Bali or only transiting to India.
Ngurah Rai Customs and the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Police arrested two Indian nationals suspected of smuggling 10.1 kilograms of marijuana through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali. The two, AR (28) and PC (31), arrived on Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, via the Koh Samui-Singapore-Denpasar route. Officers became suspicious after x-ray analysis of their luggage, then found 14 boxes containing 100 packages disguised as food containers and toys. Laboratory tests found the contents positive for Delta-9 Tetrahydrocannabinol. Ngurah Rai Customs chief Wawan Darmawan said the suspect told investigators he received the goods from someone in Thailand. Police said the two were not a couple and were each promised a payment of 150 dollars. Investigators are now tracing whether there was a recipient in Bali or whether the shipment was to be carried onward to India.
