2 men arrested after killing phone shop owner in Ambarawa
Police seized 53 phones, 68 device boxes and nearly Rp10 million in cash; both suspects face life in prison.
Semarang Police arrested two suspects in the murder and robbery of Candra Waskita, 25, owner of a cellphone kiosk in Ambarawa, Semarang Regency, Central Java. The suspects, TI (25) and DPP (20), were said to have come to the victim's shop in the early hours of Aug. 6, 2026, claiming they wanted to buy a phone. When the victim was alone inside, the suspects allegedly struck the back of his head with a hammer, killing him, then carried his body in the trunk of the victim's Honda Jazz to Gubug, Grobogan Regency. Police found 53 devices, 68 phone boxes, Rp7,95 juta and Rp2 juta in cash, and the Honda Beat motorcycle used by the suspects. Both were charged under Article 479 and Article 458 of the Criminal Code.
