A 25-year-old motorcyclist and his 21-year-old pillion rider were killed early June 25 after their motorcycle was believed to have skidded on Yio Chu Kang Road toward Upper Thomson Road in Singapore. Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force were alerted at about 3:35 a.m. The man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic. Videos posted on Xiaohongshu showed part of the road cordoned off, with police tents and traffic building in one lane. Shin Min Daily News reported the two were believed to be a couple. Police are investigating. Traffic Police figures released in February showed motorcyclists and pillion riders made up 54.8% of all traffic accidents and 53% of road deaths in 2025, though motorcycles account for about 15% of vehicles.
