19 members of baby-selling ring get 3-7 year terms
The court said at least 34 babies were trafficked since 2022, and eight rescued infants are now under West Java Social Services care.
The Bandung District Court sentenced 19 defendants in a baby trafficking ring that sold infants under the guise of adoption to couples in Indonesia and Singapore. Chief judge Gatot Ardian Agustriono sentenced Lie Siu Luan, also known as Lily, identified as the mastermind, to seven years in prison on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. The other 18 defendants received terms ranging from three years four months to six years seven months.
Other key roles were handed to Astri Fitrinika, Djaka Hamdani, Lai Siu Ha and Elin Marlina, each sentenced to six years seven months. The court said the ring trafficked at least 34 babies in 2022-2025. Some of the infants were taken to Singapore, while five other defendants were said to have posed as the babies' parents in false documents and video calls with prospective adoptive parents. Eight babies rescued in last year's arrests were ordered placed under the care of West Java Social Services. Prosecutors and the defendants may still appeal.
