13 suspects in Little Aresha daycare case to face trial
Police have questioned 154 witnesses, used testimony from 3 experts and are still probing possible additional suspects.
The Yogyakarta District Prosecutor’s Office has begun handling the case against 13 suspects accused of child abuse and neglect at Daycare Little Aresha after the file was declared complete, or P21. The handover of the suspects and evidence from Polresta Yogyakarta to prosecutors took place on Wednesday, June 24. Yogyakarta Chief Prosecutor Hartono said a joint team of prosecutors from the Yogyakarta District Prosecutor’s Office and the DIY Attorney General’s Office has been formed to draft the indictment and promptly send the case to the Yogyakarta District Court. The file is split into three groups: foundation chairman DK, school principal API alias N, and 11 caregivers. Separately, Polresta Yogyakarta is still expanding the investigation. Criminal investigation chief Kompol Riski Adrian said investigators have questioned 154 witnesses, relied on testimony from three experts, and are still examining the possible involvement of others, leaving open the possibility of new suspects.
