125 elementary students in Nagan Raya still in makeshift classrooms

Six class groups have been squeezed into three temporary rooms since the school was damaged by flash floods in late November 2025.

A total of 125 students at SD Negeri 1 Beutong Ateuh Banggalang in Desa Kuta Teungoh, Nagan Raya regency, Aceh, were still attending classes in makeshift rooms as of Thursday (23/7/2026). Their school building was damaged after flash floods hit the area in late November 2025. Because facilities are limited, six class groups have been combined into three temporary rooms so teaching and learning can continue. Teachers are holding classes in simple rooms while waiting for the school building to be rehabilitated. The situation has forced students to study with limited resources for months. Residents and the school are hoping repairs to SD Negeri 1 Beutong Ateuh Banggalang will be completed soon so students can return to proper classrooms.
