12-year-old Medan student who killed her mother gets 5-month treatment
The judge ordered care at Balai Sentra Bahagia Medan, shorter than the prosecutor's eight-month request.
The Medan District Court sentenced AS, 12, an elementary school student who killed her biological mother, FS, to five months of treatment and supervision. The ruling was read Tuesday (23/6) by a panel led by Evelyne Napitupulu. Valentino Harry Marpaung, head of intelligence at the Medan Prosecutor's Office, said AS will undergo rehabilitation at Balai Sentra Bahagia, Kementerian Sosial RI, in Medan. The panel found AS guilty of violating Article 458 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with the Child Criminal Justice System Law. Prosecutors had earlier sought eight months of supervision and psychological intervention at Lembaga Kesejahteraan Sosial Tanjung Morawa. After the hearing, both the prosecutor and the child's legal counsel said they were still considering whether to appeal.
