1 dead after NetJets plane crashes onto Texas highway in Laredo

A NetJets business jet crashed onto a highway in Laredo, Texas, late Tuesday, killing one person and sending the five other people aboard to hospitals, police said. The Cessna Citation Latitude went down on Loop 20 shortly after 10 p.m. after departing from Los Cabos in Mexico and diverting while en route to Austin, flight-tracking data showed. Investigator Joe Baeza said the aircraft also struck a vehicle, though authorities did not immediately report serious injuries on the ground. Five responding officers were treated for smoke inhalation. Part of the plane remained on the road early Wednesday, with jet fuel at the scene forcing a prolonged closure of the highway.
