Zulfa Mustofa ready to run for PBNU chairman in 2026
Support from PWNU and PCNU has strengthened ahead of NU's 35th Muktamar in Tambakberas, Jombang, on 27-31 August 2026.
PBNU Deputy Chairman Zulfa Mustofa said he is ready to enter the race for PBNU chairman if nominated by Nahdlatul Ulama regional and branch administrators. He said he has no personal ambition, but would not reject the bid if it comes from PWNU and PCNU. That support has been flowing in over the past few months ahead of NU's 35th Muktamar. The forum will be held at Bahrul Ulum Islamic boarding school in Tambakberas, Jombang, East Java, on 27-31 August 2026. PBNU Dakwah Institute chairman Abdullah Syamsul Arifin said Zulfa is seen as an icon of change within NU. PWNU DKI Jakarta deputy secretary Taufik Damas added that the selection of candidates remains in the hands of the voting delegates at the Muktamar.
