Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg laid out a broad case for wider access to artificial intelligence models in a 6,500-word essay published Monday, arguing the industry should not be controlled by a small group of companies. In the manifesto, Zuckerberg challenged the view that AI is so risky it must remain concentrated in a handful of organizations. He wrote that betting on “absolute power” to act benevolently for humanity has not produced safe or positive outcomes. The argument places Meta in direct contrast with AI developers including OpenAI and Anthropic, which he cited as backing a more centralized vision for the technology’s future.
