Zelensky meets Witkoff in Oslo as Trump pressures Kyiv
What's new: The Kremlin expects Witkoff to brief Vladimir Putin soon, while Kyiv says vital US-backed defenses and satellite links have been curtailed.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met US special envoy Steve Witkoff in Oslo on Oct. 20 as relations between Kyiv and Washington deteriorated and Russia intensified attacks on Ukrainian cities and energy systems. The talks were hosted alongside leaders from Norway and Finland, with officials from Britain, France, Germany, Poland, the European Union and NATO also expected in Oslo. The Kremlin said it hoped Witkoff could meet Vladimir Putin soon after the session to relay Ukrainian and European positions. Kyiv has complained that Washington failed to provide early warning of missile launches, slowed delivery of air defense missiles bought by European allies and throttled SpaceX Starshield links used by Ukrainian drones.
