Zelensky renews diplomatic push after talks with US envoy

Kyiv is open to visits by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in coming weeks as ceasefire talks remain stalled.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he held a “very positive” conversation with United States envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner while stopping in Chisinau, Moldova, on 8 June. Zelensky said both were ready to work more actively in the coming weeks to push diplomacy aimed at ending Russia’s war in Ukraine. The conversation followed Zelensky’s meeting with leaders of Britain, France and Germany in London to discuss next steps toward resolving the more than four-year-old war. Zelensky also spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron to align the next moves. At the same time, Washington-mediated talks remain stuck, while U.S. attention has shifted largely to the conflict in Iran. A source said Witkoff and Kushner also discussed the possibility of an official visit to Kyiv.
