Yusril pushes under invoicing, illegal fishing into graft law

He says the graft-law revision will be aligned with KUHP, KUHAP, UNCAC and the Asset Forfeiture bill under discussion.

Menko Hukum, HAM, Imigrasi, dan Pemasyarakatan Yusril Ihza Mahendra is pushing for under invoicing in the mining sector and illegal fishing to be classified as corruption offenses in the revision of the Tipikor law. He made the proposal after meeting President Prabowo Subianto at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, on Monday (26/10). According to Yusril, both practices inflict major losses on the state economy, potentially reaching hundreds of trillions of rupiah a year. He cited a case in which 20 thousand tons of mined output were reported as only 10 thousand to 15 thousand tons, while the value gap flowed overseas. Yusril said the provision on losses to the state economy in the Tipikor law has not been fully developed. For that reason, revision of UU No. 31 Tahun 1999 jo UU No. 20 Tahun 2001 is needed so it aligns with KUHP, KUHAP, UNCAC, and the RUU Perampasan Aset.
