Yaqut hajj quota corruption case goes to prosecutors
BPK audit puts the alleged state loss at Rp622 billion over the 2023-2024 additional hajj quota split.
KPK handed over the case file in the alleged 2023-2024 additional hajj quota corruption case involving former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas to prosecutors on Tuesday (14/7). Along with Yaqut, three other suspects who moved into the prosecution stage are Ishfah Abidal Aziz, also known as Gus Alex, Maktour Operational Director Ismail Adham, and Asrul Azis Taba. The case centers on the allocation of additional quota from Saudi Arabia. Yaqut's lawyer, Mellisa Anggraini, said the allocation of 10.000 for regular hajj and 10.000 for special hajj was in line with technical studies and the Indonesia-Saudi memorandum of understanding. KPK said the case construction, the roles of the suspects, and the evidence will be disclosed at trial. A BPK audit estimates the alleged state loss at Rp622 billion.
