Workers prepare major protests at DPR, Istana over labor bill

KSPN plans an action in late August or September with five demands, including a national sectoral wage and rules for digital platform workers.

Workers are preparing a wave of protests to press for the labor bill ahead of late August or September. Konfederasi Serikat Pekerja Nusantara (KSPN) plans to mobilize tens of thousands of workers to the DPR RI and Istana Negara, while previously Kapolri Jenderal Listyo Sigit Prabowo met with Koalisi Besar Perjuangan Buruh Indonesia in Jakarta to open dialogue on the draft law. KSPN President Ristadi said the group is advancing five main demands: a national sectoral minimum wage, the establishment of a National Manpower Supervisory Agency, limits on outsourcing, internship programs included in the education curriculum, and clearer rules for digital platform workers. Separately, Andi Gani Nena Wea of KSPSI said the dialogue with Kapolri was a moment to strengthen communication between workers and the government, Polri, and DPR.
