Woodlands jam stemmed from maintenance, 2 lorry breakdowns, ICA says
What's new: ICA said no power outage hit Woodlands on Nov. 4; one blocked lane lasted until after midnight as queues spilled into Malaysia.
Traffic congestion at the Woodlands crossing on Nov. 4 was caused by planned electrical maintenance and two lorry breakdowns on the Malaysian side of the Causeway, not a power outage, Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority said. ICA said work at the Old Woodlands Checkpoint ran from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., temporarily halting clearance of arriving lorries there while cargo processing continued at Woodlands Checkpoint. Singapore-bound cargo traffic then built up on the Causeway. Later, two lorries broke down at about 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., blocking one of three arrival lanes. The first was cleared at 9:50 p.m. and the second at about 12:22 a.m. on Nov. 5, worsening evening-peak delays into Johor Bahru.
