Indonesian tourist vanishes in South Korea, agency fined Rp125 juta
KBRI Seoul has traced the missing Indonesian, while authorities suspect overstay after he used the 15-day group visa waiver.
The Foreign Ministry, through KBRI Seoul, is handling the case of an Indonesian from Madiun, East Java, who disappeared from a tourist group in South Korea. Director for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens Heni Hamidah said KBRI has received information on the person's whereabouts and is coordinating with local authorities on next steps. The ministry said the Indonesian is suspected of violating immigration rules because the status has become overstay. The case surfaced after the @sarjanabackpacker account wrote that a tour participant identified as F said he was going to Myeongdong to look at shoes, then failed to return to the hotel and could not be reached. The travel agent said it was fined Rp125 juta. The ministry reminded that the visa-free facility for Indonesian group tours in South Korea is valid for a maximum of 15 days through December 2026.
