Indonesian national held after fatal stabbing in Hokkaido

KBRI Tokyo identified the victim, initials SR, as a migrant worker and said Chitose police still hold the suspect.

An Indonesian national was arrested in Chitose, Hokkaido, Japan, after allegedly stabbing another Indonesian national to death on the night of June 4. Chitose police arrested Agung Laksana Aji over the stabbing of Sri Rahayu, 21, who suffered several stab wounds to the abdomen and died after being taken to a hospital. Police said the suspect and the victim knew each other. Emergency services received a report around 21.10 local time about a man carrying a knife on a sidewalk on Shinai 1 Chome Street. During the arrest, a police officer and a resident were also injured. KBRI Tokyo said the victim, identified by the initials SR, was an Indonesian migrant worker and that it continued to coordinate with Japanese authorities, including for legal assistance and the possible repatriation of the body to Indonesia.
