Wildfire on Gunung Sumbing extinguished, joint team on guard
BPBD, TNI, Polri, Perhutani, and volunteers remain deployed to watch for any new hotspots after the blaze was contained.
The forest and land fire in the Gunung Sumbing area of Temanggung Regency, Central Java, was extinguished on Saturday (24/10), a day after the flames spread to the mountain's eastern side. Although the fire has been put out, the joint team remains on guard to prevent any new hotspots from emerging. Personnel involved come from BPBD, TNI, Polri, Perhutani, and volunteers. A day earlier, Friday (23/10), the fire was seen moving from an area above Batursari Village toward Kruwisan Village in Kledung District, as well as to Glapansari and Wonotirto villages in Bulu District. The fire's movement marked the spread of the wildfire on the slopes of Gunung Sumbing before it was finally brought under control.
