Wildfire haze cancels flights at Tjilik Riwut Airport

Several flights at Tjilik Riwut Airport in Palangka Raya were canceled on Sunday (30/8) because haze from forest and land fires blanketed the area. The airport said visibility fell to about 300 meters, leaving flight operations below safe limits. Arrivals from Surabaya, Jakarta and Semarang were affected, as were departures to Semarang, Yogyakarta and Jakarta in the afternoon, along with Surabaya in the afternoon and evening. The disruption led to long lines of passengers seeking ticket refunds and baggage services at the airport. The haze in Palangka Raya is a direct impact of karhutla on air connectivity and daily activity in Central Kalimantan.
