White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt steps down
What's next: Trump did not name a replacement and said Leavitt will remain an outside adviser and Republican voice.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is leaving her post after deciding to spend more time with her family following the birth of her second child. President Donald Trump wrote on social media that Leavitt will leave at the end of the month, calling her one of his top outside advisers going forward. Leavitt wrote that returning to the White House after her daughter's birth made her conclude she could not give both her children and the job the time and attention they deserve. Trump did not identify a successor. Leavitt became the youngest White House press secretary in US history when she took the role at 27.
