Cirebon deputy council speaker apologizes after 'gembrot' comment

Nana Kencanawati, deputy speaker of the Cirebon Regency DPRD from the Gerindra Party, apologized after a comment from her account to a resident criticizing the Makan Bergizi Gratis program went viral and drew backlash. In a statement on social media on Tuesday (16/6), Nana acknowledged the comment was inappropriate, offended many people, and did not reflect the conduct of a public official. The dispute began with a video of the Aliansi Mahasiswa Cirebon protest in front of the Cirebon City DPRD building on Monday (15/6), when a woman known as Mak Denok voiced opposition to MBG. In a screenshot circulating online, the account @nanakencanawati wrote, “Lagian siapa yang mau ngasih lo makan???? Udah GEMBROT!!!!” Nana also said the comment was posted spontaneously while her personal account was being used by the media team. By Wednesday morning, her Instagram account was set to private.
