Virginia, D.C. sue to block 250-foot Trump arch near Arlington
What's next: A federal judge is weighing an emergency halt as the administration pushes to start construction as soon as next week.
Virginia and the District of Columbia filed a federal lawsuit Saturday seeking to stop construction of President Donald Trump’s proposed 250-foot memorial arch near Arlington National Cemetery. The suit says the project could cause irreparable harm by choking a key traffic corridor between Washington and Virginia, disrupting emergency services and worsening pollution and runoff into the Potomac River during what officials say could be a three-year build. It is the third lawsuit targeting the plan. U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan is already considering a temporary restraining order, while the administration has said it may seek final approval at a National Capital Planning Commission meeting this week.
