Veda Ega gets six-place grid penalty in Moto3 Qatar
His lap during the Lusail yellow-flag breach was deleted, though Veda still advanced directly to Q2 after finishing fifth in practice.
Veda Ega Pratama will start six places farther back in the Moto3 Qatar race at Lusail International Circuit on Sunday (8/11) after violating a yellow flag during FP1. According to an official MotoGP statement, the Honda Team Asia rider continued at speed through sector 11 and set his personal best lap even as the warning signal was displayed. The FIM MotoGP Stewards Panel handed down a six-place grid penalty because it was Veda's second yellow-flag offense of the 2026 season, following a similar incident in Motegi, Japan. In addition to the grid sanction, the lap time recorded during the violation was also canceled. Even so, the 17-year-old remained competitive in Friday's practice session and finished fifth, earning direct entry into Qualifying 2.
