Vance questions Pentagon plan to livestream Hasan execution
What's next: Nidal Malik Hasan is scheduled to face a firing squad Dec. 3 at Fort Hood in the first U.S. military execution since 1961.
Vice President JD Vance cast doubt Friday on whether the Pentagon will actually livestream the planned execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan, even after the department told media outlets a public feed was coming. Hasan, a former Army major, was convicted in 2013 of killing 13 people and wounding 32 in the 2009 attack at Fort Hood, Texas. His execution is set for Dec. 3 by firing squad after President Donald Trump approved the method on the recommendation of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. If carried out, it would be the first U.S. military execution in more than six decades and the first by firing squad since World War II.
