Vance moves to build 2028 bloc after GOP midterm losses
What's new: He tied the party's defeat to the Iran war and pushed a platform on inflation, border policy and Israel.
Vice President JD Vance is moving to assemble a “new right” coalition after Republicans' midterm losses, positioning himself for the 2028 election cycle. Fox News reported that Vance broke with President Donald Trump on foreign policy and argued the party lost because of the war in Iran. In a post cited by the outlet, Vance wrote that “everyone knows why we lost” and pointed to four steps to win voters back: end the Iran war, focus on the cost of living and inflation, put America first, and change the US relationship with Israel. The report said Vance's effort targets disaffected Trump voters rather than a clean break from Trump's movement.
