Vance backs Ramaswamy ad as Ohio governor race backlash grows

What's new: The vice president urged Republicans to stop "whining" even as criticism spread across both parties.

Vice President JD Vance defended Vivek Ramaswamy's campaign after a harsh Ohio governor attack ad drew bipartisan blowback. The ad features Donna Arthur, the estranged mother of Democratic candidate Amy Acton, calling her daughter a liar, but it does not mention that Arthur's husband was charged in 1978 with raping Acton when she was a child. Ramaswamy's campaign confirmed it made the ad and pledged to spend $4 million airing it statewide. Acton's brother, Philip Stearns, condemned the spot and appeared in a response ad describing childhood abuse. Former rival Nikki Haley also criticized Ramaswamy as pressure mounted inside the GOP.
