US suspends Apache training after 2 soldiers die in Texas
The Army halted all Apache training missions while investigators work to determine what caused the AH-64 crash in Bell County.
The US Army has temporarily halted all Apache helicopter training missions after two of its soldiers were killed in an AH-64 crash in Texas. The Fort Hood-based helicopter went down in a field near Salado, Bell County, on Wednesday (12/8). An investigation has just begun, and military authorities have not released the cause of the incident. In its latest statement, the two victims were identified as Chief Warrant Officer 2 Deontre T. Huey, 34, and Warrant Officer Seth L. Olmstead, 25. Both served in Bravo Company, Battalion 1, 227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division. The Army said the training suspension will remain in place until the root cause of the crash is better understood.
