US storms keep flood threat high after 7 deaths in Indiana

What's next: The National Weather Service expects one more day of heavy rain before a cold front pushes the pattern off the East Coast Tuesday.

Thunderstorms, heavy rain and flash flooding continued to threaten parts of the Midwest and mid-Atlantic on Monday after days of severe weather killed at least seven people in Indiana. The National Weather Service warned that repeated rounds of rain could hit for another day, with flood watches in effect through Monday evening for much of West Virginia, southeast Ohio and northeast Kentucky. In Indiana, a flood warning remained in place for part of Randolph County after new rainfall, even as waters on the White River in Indianapolis receded. More than 106,000 utility customers in Indiana were still without power Monday morning, down from about 300,000 at the peak. The storms have also brought tornadoes, flash flooding and damage from Illinois to western Pennsylvania.
