US seeks more NATO cash for Ukraine arms as $2 billion gap opens

What's new: The funding hole covers weapons packages already approved under NATO's PURL system, with more deliveries possible.

The United States is preparing to press NATO allies for more money for a key Ukraine weapons pipeline after a roughly $2 billion shortfall opened in approved packages, according to reports. The request could come as soon as November and would target the alliance's Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List, or PURL, which lets allies fund US-made weapons for Kyiv. Washington has kept shipments moving even when allied payments lagged, and the gap could widen if the Pentagon approves more deliveries. The push underscores continued US military backing for Ukraine despite political friction between President Donald Trump and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
