US scrutinizes report of China spy plot targeting Nvidia CEO
What's new: Trump signaled Jensen Huang could remain an AI adviser as Washington reviews claims a Singapore-linked executive passed information to Beijing.
The United States is reviewing a report that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang was targeted in an alleged Chinese espionage effort, after President Donald Trump voiced support for the chip executive and said the matter was under close scrutiny. The New York Times reported this week that US intelligence officials concluded a Chinese executive tied to a Singapore-based data center company, who had contact with Huang, was channeling information to Beijing. China rejected the account as groundless speculation. Huang, who has advised Trump on AI policy, also joined the president on a May trip to Beijing, where they met Chinese President Xi Jinping.
