US sanctions 60 people, firms and vessels tied to Iran oil trade

What's new: Treasury linked several Singapore-based shipping firms and a Singaporean owner to moving Iranian oil through the Strait of Malacca.

The US Treasury imposed sanctions on 60 individuals, companies and vessels it said helped Iran earn oil revenue, procure weapons and support cyber operations, widening Washington’s pressure campaign as fighting with Tehran drags on. Among those named were Singaporean Mansoor Tayabbhai Gandhi and Singapore-linked firms including Trans Arctic Global Marine Services, Arc Chartering and Azure Shipping. Treasury said Trans Arctic Global helped the National Iranian Tanker Company move tens of millions of barrels of Iranian oil through the Strait of Malacca for transfer to ships off Singapore. ABC reported Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also plans to target another bank this week as the administration pushes allies and trading partners to curb Iran transactions.
