The United States and Iran exchanged fresh attacks Friday, widening fears that the conflict around the Strait of Hormuz could spread across the Gulf. The U.S. military carried out a 13th consecutive night of strikes aimed at weakening Iran's ability to threaten shipping, while Iran said it launched retaliatory drone attacks on U.S. military facilities and bases in Bahrain and Jordan. Iranian state media also reported strikes on Kuwait, and flights were briefly suspended at Irbil airport in Iraq after a reported drone crash. The fighting has pushed crude above $100 a barrel and lifted average U.S. gasoline prices to $4.10 a gallon, according to AAA. Donald Trump said he was close to deciding on a "massive attack," while Tehran warned that seizing frozen Iranian assets for shipping damages would set an "incendiary precedent."
