US-Iran ceasefire memo could be signed June 14 in Geneva

What's new: Draft terms under discussion would ease oil sanctions and unfreeze Iranian funds, while Tehran wants fighting in Lebanon halted too.

A memorandum to halt the war between the United States and Iran could be signed as soon as June 14, with Geneva emerging as the most likely venue, according to a source cited by Reuters. The source said negotiators were still finalizing the text on June 12 and aimed to complete it by June 13. If completed, the document could be signed by Vice President J.D. Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammed Baqer Qalibaf. Iranian officials have indicated the draft would waive sanctions on Iran’s oil, release billions of dollars in frozen funds and require hostilities to stop on all fronts, including in Lebanon. Nuclear issues would be deferred to later talks. President Donald Trump has said he is holding off on new strikes, but he also rejected leaked Iranian descriptions of the terms.
