US hits Iran targets as Pakistan pushes Hormuz talks

Why it matters: Iran fired again at Jordan, one worker was killed in Kuwait, and oil swung after the Strait of Hormuz shut again.

The United States carried out a broad new round of strikes on Iran on July 30, hitting dozens of Revolutionary Guard targets after fresh Iranian attacks on Jordan, as Pakistan worked to keep negotiations alive over the Strait of Hormuz. Jordan said it intercepted five Iranian missiles for a second straight day with no casualties. Kuwait said an Iranian strike hit a Chinese company building and killed one worker. Iranian state media reported strikes in Khuzestan province and on Qeshm island. Pakistan said technical talks were still underway to de-escalate and reopen the waterway after a truce collapsed earlier in July. Brent crude had surged more than 8% a day earlier before easing.
