US clears $73 million HIMARS upgrade sale to Singapore
What's new: The package covers 18 fire-control upgrade kits plus training, spares and technical support for Singapore's rocket launchers.
The United States cleared a $73 million sale to upgrade Singapore’s M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, approving 18 Common Fire Control Systems kits for the launchers used by the Singapore Armed Forces. The package also includes support equipment, technical documents, spare parts, training, and US government and contractor engineering and logistics support. Singapore’s Ministry of Defence said HIMARS has been in service since 2010 and remains a key precision-strike asset as the military modernizes. The State Department said the sale would not change the region’s basic military balance and would help a strategic partner address current and future threats. The approval follows an April purchase of M30A2 GMLRS Alternative Warhead pods valued at about $83.1 million.
