Unissula students test 48-volt solar electric car in Semarang
The prototype can reach 20 km per hour and run for more than five hours on a single charge.
Students from the Faculty of Industrial Technology at Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (Unissula) tested a prototype solar-powered electric car on their campus in Semarang, Central Java, on Thursday (11/6/2026). The vehicle uses a 48-volt battery and relies on solar energy as an additional power source. In the trial, the car was able to reach speeds of up to 20 kilometers per hour and operate for more than five hours in a single use. Unissula describes it as a green technology innovation to support the use of clean energy and sustainable transportation. According to Antara, the vehicle is now also being used for operational purposes on campus while developers continue to refine it.
