Unesa suspends 6 students after unethical chat implicates 26 victims
The PPK task force is still questioning witnesses and reviewing chat histories as Unesa prepares psychological, academic and legal support.
Universitas Negeri Surabaya has suspended six vocational students from all campus activities after they were reported in a WhatsApp chat case involving unethical conversations that objectified female students and lecturers. Iman Pasu Marganda Hadiarto Purba, head of Unesa's Prevention and Handling of Violence Task Force, said the move was taken to smooth the investigation and is not a final sanction. Preliminary findings show 26 alleged victims, consisting of 22 female students and four lecturers. The PPK Task Force is handling the case under Permendikbudristek Number 55 of 2024 while questioning witnesses, tracing group chat histories and gathering additional evidence. Unesa is also preparing psychological counseling, academic support and legal assistance if needed for the victims.
