Ukrainian man gets 7 years for arson at properties tied to Starmer

What's new: A second defendant got 2 years after prosecutors said the attacks were arranged through a Telegram account offering payment.

A London court sentenced Roman Lavrynovych, 22, to seven years in prison for a string of arson attacks on properties linked to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Over five days in May last year, fires were set at a north London house connected to Starmer, a nearby property where he had previously lived and where his sister-in-law still lived, and a Toyota car that had once belonged to him. Lavrynovych was convicted of two counts of arson while being reckless about endangering life, and of conspiracy to commit arson. Stanislav Carpiuc, 27, a Romanian national born in Ukraine, received a two-year term on the conspiracy count. Prosecutors said Lavrynovych had been offered money through a Telegram account using the name EL Money.
