Ukraine says Starlink curbs persist, hampering drone strikes
What's new: Kyiv says speed limits remain despite Trump's assurances, and officials warn disrupted links are costing drones on the front.
Ukraine said Friday that SpaceX is still limiting Starlink and Starshield service, undercutting some battlefield operations despite President Donald Trump's public assurances that the problem would be fixed. Ukrainian officials said speed caps have not been lifted, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote that service had not been restored. National security expert Dmitri Alperovitch told CNBC the limits are causing drone losses and reducing Ukraine's ability to strike Russian logistics. Reuters, cited by The Straits Times, also reported that U.S. administrations have for years asked SpaceX to switch Starlink access on or off in conflict zones, highlighting how heavily Washington relies on Elon Musk's company for military and foreign policy communications.
