Ukraine rejects Musk claim on Starlink misuse in drone strikes
What's new: A Zelenskyy adviser said Starlink's civilian service is capped at 70-90 kph in Ukraine and does not work in Russia.
Ukraine pushed back after Elon Musk accused its military of breaking Starlink's terms by using the civilian satellite network for offensive drone strikes. Serhii Beskrestnov, a defense technology adviser to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said that was not possible because commercial Starlink in Ukraine has long been restricted. He wrote that drones using the service are limited to 70-90 kilometers per hour and that the system does not function over Russian territory, making deep or medium-range strikes impossible. The dispute followed a week of speed restrictions on Starlink and the military-focused Starshield that Ukrainian officials said disrupted drone operations and air defenses before service was restored Saturday.
