Ukraine hit 36 ships in 4 days as it tightened Crimea fuel siege

Why it matters: The strikes target supply routes to occupied Crimea and could deepen fuel shortages there while pressuring Russian military logistics.

Ukraine said its drones struck a dozen more Russian tankers in the Sea of Azov overnight, part of a four-day campaign that Kyiv says has now hit 36 vessels in the Sea of Azov and Black Sea. Ukraine's military said the ships were moving fuel to Russian forces and carrying oil products tied to sanctions evasion, and that a tugboat and a dry cargo ship were also hit. BBC Verify reported satellite imagery showed fewer tankers near Kerch after earlier attacks and smoke from a ship off Crimea's coast. Rostov regional governor Yuri Slyusar said two empty tankers were attacked in Taganrog Bay. Ukraine has stepped up attacks on routes supplying occupied Crimea, where authorities have reported fuel shortages and a state of emergency.
